The original Fiat 500 was produced in Italy between 1957 and 1975. The Fiat 500 was marketed as a cheap and practical town car, measuring only 3 metres (10 feet) long. Curb weight of this car is 500 kilograms, about 1100 pounds. The engine is a rear-mounted, 479cc two-cylinder air-cooled engine, with a 4 speed manual transmission. The 500 is considered to be one of the first "city cars". The original engine produced 13 brake horsepower, but over the years the Fiat 500s had different engines going up to 23 brake horsepower.

Since 2007 Fiat has re-introduced a larger version of the Fiat 500. Some of these have a 1.3 litre diesel engine that can go 56 miles to the gallon (imperial) city and 86 miles to the gallon (imperial) highway. I understand they are working on a gasoline/electric hybrid which can to 100 miles to the gallon.

Their names are Spitzer and Sputnik.

Looking at them reduces my stress and helps me be in my "happy place".
